More About JeanetteMore About JeanetteJeanette now lives in beautiful rural Nelson at the top of the south island of New Zealand - some of her hobbies are - walking, swimming, photography, gardening, Durham quilting with a passion for Ballroom and New Vogue dancing. Silver medal June 2009 Jeanette's coaching tour of New Zealand prior to her emigration Prior to immigrating Jeanette was Equestrian Resource Manager at Houghall College of Agriculture and Horticulture in Durham (north east of England). Her roles included establishing full time courses for British Horse Society and Equestrian National Vocational Qualifications. During the three years she was there, she also designed curriculum's up to diploma level for riding, teaching and equine science for full and part time students. Jeanette bases her methods on the most traditional equestrian masters such as those of the Spanish Riding School. She spent some time working for two riders of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna (Austria) and owned a Lipizzaner which was also trained in Austria. At the age of 17 she trained for the first level of equestrian coach, spending time as a working pupil with John Amer (ex house hold cavalry) and during this time she achieved her qualification to become a British Horse Society Assistant Instructor (B.H.S.A.I.). Her riding career took off when she purchased a 3 year old horse from Ireland - a life long partnership saw both of them compete at national level in dressage and eventing and they also raced in a 'point to point' (local hunt) race. "He was a horse of a life time and did everything I asked of him and much more - I was fortunate to have him until he was 26 years old." When Jeanette became a fully qualified British Horse Society InstructorShe worked as a coach, and trainer of horses for competition in 1978 she was employed as manager of several large equestrian centres in and around London. Using her background in business management she moved on to have her own competition and training establishments. . She also schooled and competed on sponsored horses and was invited to become a chief examiner for the British Horse Society. Jeanette was always accommodating to overseas students and to this day she maintains friendships formed during her years as an examiner, trainer and rider. Work in Italy, France and Holland allowed Jeanette to continue to learn and at one point she imported Dutch Warmblood horses (to the UK) - competing on them and then selling them to other riders. Jeanette enjoyed five years in the beautiful county of Suffolk (East Anglia, UK), working in a private boarding school; Grenville College - a school for boys and girls who where able to bring their horses and ponies to school with them. They were encouraged to hunt and compete regularly. During the school holidays Jeanette was free to compete on a wide range of different horses of her own and those owned by others. |
